In the UK
Journal Entry: Sun Aug 17, 2008, 3:45 PM
I've been back for 3 weeks now and things have been going better than expected. No reverse-culture shock, as people kept telling me I would get. I pretty much expected to feel out of place and feel like I wanted to be back in Japan, so none of these emotions came as a surprise.
Living in England has been ok but at the same time, I've felt a huge lack of inspiration in taking photos compared to living in Japan where I wanted to take photos all the time. Sometimes I even go out without my camera, partly due to thinking I won't find anything worth shooting and partly due to being worried about the level of crime here and the fear someone will steal it.
I am in need of a break of at least a few months in England before I look for work in Japan due to numerous things mainly caused by living in a tiny town where there was nobody I could speak English to, as well as there being some pretty odd locals.
My last year in Japan went very badly, but still, it's the place I would spend the rest of my life, if I won the lottery, so I will strive to go back and live there once I've had my break in the UK.

My plans are non-existant, but I need to escape.
Glad to hear you're back safely though, but it's ridiculous how much it costs in the end to send things back. I only just received the parcels I sent last Friday. Took over a month in the end, but it was the cheapest way - I really couldn't have afforded anything faster.
What are your plans now?
The luggage was way over the limits but they didn't mind.
Just trying to get used to life in England again, which is difficult. I felt a lot more at home in Japan when in the cities. I am surprised at the drunken louts have become like over here and how prevalent they are. Never once saw Japanese people causing trouble in the streets.

Anything worth shooting is worth shooting twice. Ammo is cheap. Life is expensive.
