On the other side of the street from the Melonbooks is a Volks store, and I think if you go down the street next to it, you'll find Melcafe, which is a pretty good maid cafe. You can't take pics inside though, unfortunately.

Yeah, it has a huge sign outside saying in both English and Japanese "No photographs", which personally I think is a bit crap.
If you go to a maid cafe, a souvenir is nice :)

Some of the cafes sell souvenirs. Melcafe has plastic figurines and Cafe Doll (Osaka Nippombashi 5-4-20) sells things like coffee cups. At least they did last time I was there.

It's a shame that many of the cafes don't allow photos, considering how many I'd take, but I kinda see where they're coming from on that. Keeps photo mobs from forming like at Comiket.
